Agrocybe striatipes is a recently described species (2023) that has been successfully domesticated for commercial cultivation in China. It is characterized by a light yellowish to ochraceous-brown pileus (cap) that darkens in the center and measures 18–45 mm in diameter. The cap surface is smooth but often develops irregular wrinkles as it matures. A distinguishing feature is its stipe (stem), which is 65–125 mm long, cylindrical, hollow, and notably fibrillose with deep longitudinal striations (grooves). Biochemically, this species is noted for its high nutritional value, containing high levels of protein, essential amino acids, calcium, and vitamin D compared to other Agrocybe species. It grows saprophytically and has demonstrated excellent potential as a functional food source due to its rich bioactive component profile.
