Exidia is a prominent genus of jelly fungi characterized by their gelatinous, often irregular or button-shaped fruit bodies that can coalesce into larger masses. Historically placed in the Tremellales due to their basidial morphology, molecular phylogenetics has firmly situated them within the Auriculariaceae (or the synonymous Exidiaceae, depending on the classification system used). They are widely distributed and well-known for their ability to dry out to a thin crust and revive with moisture.
