Ganoderma curtisii is a North American species native to the Southeastern United States. It is easily distinguished by its unique coloration; unlike the deep red of G. lingzhi, G. curtisii often displays a matte to semi-glossy cap that ranges from yellow-ochre to golden-brown, sometimes with purplish hues near the stem. The pore surface is white to cream, bruising brown. This species has gained popularity in the home cultivation community for its beautiful 'antler' formations and rapid growth on sterilized sawdust. It is adapted to warmer climates than the European G. lucidum. The flesh is soft-corky when fresh, becoming woody with age.
