Lentinellus is a genus of agaricoid (gilled) fungi that are wood-inhabiting saprotrophs. Despite their gilled appearance, they are closely related to the toothed fungi in Auriscalpium. They are characterized by their tough, leathery flesh, serrated or jagged gill edges, and often acrid or peppery taste. The genus includes both sessile (stemless) and stipitate (stemmed) species, often growing in shelving clusters.
