A large, commercially cultivated species native to the Xinjiang and Qinghai regions of China. It is characterized by its robust, white fruiting bodies and is distinct from the common button mushroom (A. bisporus) in both morphology and growth requirements. Unlike many Agaricus species, it naturally occurs in saline-alkali grasslands and has been successfully domesticated for industrial production.
