Aporpium is a unique genus in the Auriculariaceae because it forms poroid fruit bodies, resembling polypores (bracket fungi) rather than typical jelly fungi. Despite this macroscopic appearance, they possess the septate basidia characteristic of the order. They are often found on decaying hardwood logs.
