A genus that, after the 1990s split of Collybia s.l., held only three small white species that grow on decaying mushrooms, often from sclerotia (C. tuberosa, C. cookei, C. cirrhata). He et al. (2023) greatly expanded it to include many former Clitocybe and Lepista species, including the blewits.
Collybia s.s.: tiny white collybioid mushrooms on rotting fungi, with or without small sclerotia; spore print white; spores smooth, inamyloid. The expanded 2023 concept also includes larger clitocyboid and blewit-type mushrooms.
