Jumbo Gym
A very large, yellow-orange to rusty-orange rustgill that grows in tufts on conifer wood in western North America, with a swollen stem, a membranous ring and very bitter flesh. Western collections were long recorded under the European names Gymnopilus spectabilis or G. junonius. Thorn et al. (2020) found that true G. junonius does not occur in North America, and that mushrooms given that name include G. ventricosus.
Not edible; very bitter. Wikipedia states that it contains no psilocybin. Do not eat; it can be confused with other large gyms and, at small sizes, with the deadly Galerina marginata (brown, amatoxins).
