Weeping Widow
A dark-spored, fibrillose brown mushroom of lawns, roadsides and disturbed ground whose gills become mottled black and bead with droplets in moist weather. Its spores are coarsely warty, a feature that separates Lacrymaria from Psathyrella. Wikipedia treats L. velutina as a synonym, though some authors keep the two apart.
Edibility disputed; not recommended. It is sometimes listed as edible, but some people report stomach upset after eating it.

Mycology is an evolving science: names, classifications and safety information change as research advances. Entries are compiled from cited sources and reviewed, but may be incomplete or out of date — check the sources, and never rely on this library alone to identify or eat a mushroom.
