Lentinus tuber-regium (Fr.) Fr. (also widely treated as Pleurotus tuber-regium (Rumph. ex Fr.) Singer) is a tropical wood decomposer that forms large, hard underground sclerotia as well as funnel-shaped mushrooms. Both the sclerotium and fruit bodies are eaten and used medicinally in West Africa and Southeast Asia. Sclerotia can be stored and later induced to fruit.
