White Dapperling
Leucoagaricus leucothites, the white dapperling, is a white-spored agaric of disturbed grassy places with a white to gray-brown cap, white gills and a ring. It can be confused with Agaricus species and with deadly white Amanita species such as A. ocreata.
Not recommended; do not eat. Although sometimes listed as edible, it is suspected of containing toxins that cause gastric upset. It also closely resembles deadly white Amanita species (for example A. ocreata), which have a volva at the stem base that can be buried in soil.
Never eat a wild mushroom based on a web page — confirm with an expert.
Mycology is an evolving science: names, classifications and safety information change as research advances. Entries are compiled from cited sources and reviewed, but may be incomplete or out of date — check the sources, and never rely on this library alone to identify or eat a mushroom.
