Platterful Mushroom
A grey-brown, radially streaked mushroom with very broad, widely spaced white gills and thick white cords (rhizomorphs) at the stem base. It grows from decaying or buried hardwood. It is the common eastern North American species formerly called Tricholomopsis or Megacollybia platyphylla, a name now restricted to a European species.
Not recommended: edibility of this species is poorly documented.
