A small, pear-shaped to nearly round, puffball-like fungus that grows on decaying wood and is related to the stinkhorns. The white to pinkish or lilac skin develops depressions that split open to expose a slimy, foul-smelling, dark green spore mass. It is the only species in its genus.
Edibility unknown; not eaten. Its fetid spore mass makes it unappealing.
