Devil's Urn
A deep, leathery, urn-shaped black cup on a short stalk that appears on fallen hardwood sticks in early spring. The outer surface is brownish and felty, and the inner surface is black. It is also a canker pathogen of oaks in its asexual stage.
Inedible: tough and leathery.
