Clonostachys is a widely distributed genus of fungi in the family Bionectriaceae, well-known for its ecological versatility and potential as a biological control agent. Historically, the sexual morphs were classified under the genus Bionectria, while the asexual morphs were placed in Clonostachys. With the adoption of 'one fungus, one name' nomenclature, Clonostachys is now generally accepted as the correct name for the holomorph. These fungi are characterized by their complex conidiophores and ability to parasitize other fungi, nematodes, and insects.
