Emericellopsis is a genus of cleistothecial (closed fruit body) fungi found in soil and marine environments. Recently reinstated in Bionectriaceae, these fungi are notable for their adaptation to saline and alkaline environments. They produce closed ascomata that lack a defined opening (ostiole), releasing spores only when the fruit body ruptures or decays.
