Vittadini's Lepidella
A white, scaly, ring-bearing lepidella of European grasslands that grows without tree partners; it is the type species of the disputed segregate genus Saproamanita. Its stature recalls a white Macrolepiota or Armillaria. Information on its edibility is thin and conflicting.
Edibility disputed; not recommended. An Iranian record calls it edible, and a French mycologist ate 30 g fresh weight in 2019 without reported symptoms, but this is thin evidence. Related saprotrophic lepidellas such as Amanita thiersii are suspected poisonous, and a white ringed Amanita risks confusion with deadly destroying angels.

Mycology is an evolving science: names, classifications and safety information change as research advances. Entries are compiled from cited sources and reviewed, but may be incomplete or out of date — check the sources, and never rely on this library alone to identify or eat a mushroom.
