Pinkgills
5 species
A very large genus (roughly 2,000 species) of gilled mushrooms with salmon-pink spore prints and spores that are angular in every view. Most species are saprobic in grassland, forest litter or moss, a few are ectomycorrhizal, and E. abortivum parasitizes Armillaria. Several species, including the type E. sinuatum, cause serious gastrointestinal poisoning, and E. rhodopolium contains muscarine.
Gills: attached, becoming pink. Stem: without ring or volva. Spore print: pink to salmon. Spores: angular (polyhedral) in all views.
