Upright Coral
A wood-inhabiting coral fungus with many slender, upright, nearly parallel branches that are yellowish buff to orangish buff with yellow tips when young and bruise purplish brown. It grows from dead, sometimes buried wood and attaches by white rhizomorphs. It tastes bitter, and the name probably covers a group of similar species.
Edibility disputed; not recommended. One earlier source calls it edible but unpalatable; later guides list it as inedible because of its bitter taste and odor.
