A tiny, greenish-yellow cup fungus common on cow and other herbivore dung. As the large asci mature they push above the disc surface, so the disc looks peppered with black-purple dots from the dark spores inside. It is one of the commonest dung fungi.
Not edible: far too small to be food. California Fungi lists its edibility as unknown.
Never eat a wild mushroom based on a web page — confirm with an expert.
Mycology is an evolving science: names, classifications and safety information change as research advances. Entries are compiled from cited sources and reviewed, but may be incomplete or out of date — check the sources, and never rely on this library alone to identify or eat a mushroom.
