Black Morel (Mel-7)
Morchella eximia Boud. is a widespread black morel of the Elata clade (phylogenetic species Mel-7), often fruiting after forest fires and in disturbed or landscaped ground. It is one of the three black morels cultivated outdoors in China alongside M. importuna and M. sextelata. The cap is conical with dark ridges and the fruit body is hollow throughout.
Choice edible when cooked; never eat raw. Confirm a hollow interior to rule out Gyromitra.
Never eat a wild mushroom based on a web page — confirm with an expert.
