Pecan Truffle
Tuber lyonii Butters is the 'pecan truffle' of North America, a small, light-colored truffle commonly found in pecan orchards in the southern United States. It has an orangish-brown, smooth to slightly roughened peridium and a greyish gleba marbled with white veins. Interest in it as a by-product crop of pecan orchards has grown since the 2000s.
Edible and culinarily valued; aroma described as fruity and earthy. Sold fresh in small volumes.
