Mongkolsamrit, Noisripoom, Thanakitpipattana, Spatafora & Luangsa-ard 2018. A genus of insect- and spider-associated fungi with Isaria-like asexual states, split from the Akanthomyces group. Most species occur on lepidopteran larvae or pupae. S. hepiali, the 'Cs-4 cordyceps', is commercially important.
Stromata: orange, cylindrical to clavate, with superficial perithecia (where known). Anamorph: orange conidiophores with Isaria-like phialides. Conidia: hyaline.
