Hypholoma capnoides (Fr.) P. Kumm. forms clusters of yellow-orange to tawny caps on rotting conifer wood. Its grey to lilac-grey gills (never sulphur-green) and mild taste separate it from the poisonous sulphur tuft. It is edible and occasionally cultivated on conifer logs.
