Hypholoma fasciculare (Huds.) P. Kumm. is one of the most common wood-decay mushrooms in Europe and North America, forming dense sulphur-yellow clusters on stumps of both hardwoods and conifers almost year-round. Its gills are distinctly sulphur-yellow to greenish, and it tastes very bitter. It is poisonous and the key look-alike for the edible brick cap and conifer tuft.
